Woodpeckers: Children’s Woodworking Club is a fun and hands-on weekly club designed to teach children the skills of woodworking and making. Hosted at The Hut on the Green, this club offers an exciting opportunity for young makers to learn traditional woodowrking techniques

Who Can Join?

Woodpeckers is open to children aged 9-14, from complete beginners to those with some experience in crafting. The club is designed to foster creativity, patience, and a sense of accomplishment as they complete their projects using natural materials.

What We’ll Cover:

Woodworking Techniques: Learn how to work with freshly cut wood using hand tools. Projects will range from simple carving and wittling to more advanced woodworking skills.

Basket Making & Willow Weaving: Dive into the ancient craft of weaving using willow and other natural materials to create beautiful, functional baskets and woven structures.

Tool Skills: Under close supervision, children will be introduced to safe knife-handling techniques for carving and shaping wood. Safety is our top priority, and all participants will be carefully guided through each step.

Key Details:

What to Bring: Comfortable clothes that can get messy, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle. All tools and materials will be provided.

Safety: All activities are supervised by experienced instructors, and safety gear is provided. Parents or guardians are welcome to stay and observe or relax at the nearby café.

How to Book:

Spaces are limited to 10 ensure a quality, hands-on experience and safety for each child. Pre-booking is essential. Secure your place by booking early!
