Intermediate Watercolour

Take your watercolour skills a little further in this relaxed and encouraging 6 week intermediate course. Perfect for anyone who already feels comfortable with the basics and wants to develop more confidence, control and personal style in their painting.

Across the sessions you’ll explore techniques such as layering, glazing, mixing more complex colour palettes, creating depth and atmosphere, and working with light and shadow. You’ll also experiment with composition, texture, and different subject matter — from natural forms to still life and small landscape studies.

Your tutor will offer gentle guidance, demonstrations, and plenty of one-to-one support as you build on what you already know. Each week includes time to paint, ask questions, and try out new approaches in a friendly small-group setting.

The class is led by Jason Skill, who spent years gaining the experience needed to effectively edit down images. Having that experience at your fingertips, helping you see how to tune and distil you paintings might save you many hours of work in the long run taking you work more quickly to the next level.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your practice, push your technique, or simply enjoy a weekly creative moment for yourself, this course is designed to help you grow as a painter while keeping the process joyful and exploratory.
