Intermediate Dressmaking - Trousers
Date: 9th September - 14th October 2026
Schedule: Wednesdays - Weekly over 6 weeks
Time: 18:30 - 20:30
Make a pair of trousers in this structured six-week intermediate dress making course. Trousers are a practical garment, designed to be hard-wearing, comfortable, and long-lasting [when well made!]
Across the course, you’ll use your own fabric and construct a simple pair of trousers working step by step at a steady pace, keeping the process clear and achievable.
The course is led by Sarah Johnston, a seamstress with over 50 years’ experience. Teaching is calm, practical, and supportive, with clear demonstrations and individual guidance throughout.
This course is suitable for those who are already confident using a sewing machine and have an understanding or using a dress pattern
Participants should bring their own sewing machine where possible, a basic sewing kit, one of the recommended patterns, and sufficient fabric for the shirt.
You can choose your own trouser pattern - but it must include a zip fly and a waistband. you will also need cheap plain fabric to make a toile. We suggest calico.
You will also need fabric for the trousers and matching thread.
No pre cutting of anything!!!
[if you are unsure then please email us the pattern link and we will confirm for you before the class]
By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have a pair of trousers and a solid understanding of the techniques used to make and fit them.
