Intermediate Dressmaking
Date: 3rd June - 15th July 2026
Schedule: Weekly over 6 weeks [with a week off 8th July]
Time: 18:30 - 20:30
Make a shirt in this structured six-week course intermediate dress making course. Shirts are a practical garment, designed to be hard-wearing, comfortable, and long-lasting [when well made!]
Across the course, you’ll use your own fabric and construct a simple shirt working step by step at a steady pace, keeping the process clear and achievable.
The course is led by Sarah Johnston, a seamstress with over 50 years’ experience. Teaching is calm, practical, and supportive, with clear demonstrations and individual guidance throughout.
This course is suitable for those who are already confident using a sewing machine and have an understanding or using a dress pattern
Participants should bring their own sewing machine where possible, a basic sewing kit, one of the recommended patterns, and sufficient fabric for the shirt.
You can choose your own shirt pattern - but it must contain a collar and a collar stand, a yoke and cuffs. [if you are unsure then pelase email us the pattern link and we will confirm for you before the class]
By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have a shirt and a solid understanding of the techniques used to make it.
