Abstraction for beginners

Making abstract paintings can be wonderfully freeing — and a lot of fun! In this relaxed workshop, you’ll learn to express yourself through colour, shape and mark making, without feeling tied down by traditional painting rules.

Led by experienced artist Jason Skill, this beginner-friendly session will guide you through the basics you need to get started: from colour mixing and brush handling to using stencils and combining colours in pleasing ways. Jason will also share simple compositional tips to help your abstract pieces feel balanced and convincing.

You’ll have plenty of time to experiment, play and develop your own approach — and you’ll go home with new ideas, confidence and your very own abstract artwork.

All materials are provided. Just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to let go and get creative!
