Date: Friday 18th September
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Discover the timeless craft of Danish cord weaving and create your own beautifully woven solid oak stool in this hands-on workshop with furniture maker Nick James.
Danish cord has been used in Scandinavian furniture for generations, prized for its strength, comfort and distinctive woven pattern. In this one-day workshop you’ll learn the traditional techniques used to weave a classic Danish cord seat onto a beautifully crafted solid oak frame, creating a piece of furniture you’ll be proud to use for years to come.
Nick will guide you through the process step by step, sharing the techniques, tips and tricks needed to achieve a strong, even weave. Along the way you’ll gain an insight into the history of Danish cord, how it is used in contemporary furniture making, and how thoughtful craftsmanship can transform simple natural materials into something both practical and beautiful.
No previous experience is necessary. Whether you’re looking to learn a new craft, spend a creative day making, or simply enjoy working with your hands, this workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some woodworking experience.
Your solid oak stool frame will be prepared in advance, allowing you to focus on learning the weaving process and completing your stool during the day. All materials, tools and Danish cord are included in the course fee.
