Art and Artists
Dates: 7th September – 12th October 2026
Schedule: Every Monday for 6 weeks
Time: 10am – 12pm
Ever wondered what makes an Impressionist painting look so different from a Cubist one? Or why some artists changed the way we see the world?
Art and Artists is a six-week course that combines art appreciation with hands-on creativity. Each week you’ll explore the life and work of a different artist or artistic movement, discovering the ideas, techniques and stories that shaped some of the world’s most influential art.
From bold brushstrokes and vibrant colour to expressive mark-making and innovative ways of seeing, you’ll learn what makes each artist or movement unique before putting those ideas into practice yourself. Through a series of enjoyable practical exercises, you’ll experiment with different approaches and develop a deeper understanding of art by making it, not just looking at it.
No previous art experience is needed. Whether you’re completely new to art, looking to build your confidence, or simply interested in learning more about the artists behind some of history’s greatest works, this course offers a welcoming and inspiring place to begin.
Jason is a highly experienced artist and teacher, known for his calm, encouraging approach and his ability to make art history engaging, accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
All materials are provided — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
