Introduction to Hand knitting
Date: Sunday 29th November 2026
Time: 2–5pm
Ready to pick up the needles and get started with knitting? This friendly, hands-on workshop is a gentle introduction to the basics of hand knitting, perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to refresh their skills.
Led by textile artist and experienced tutor Liane Ging, this relaxed session will guide you step by step through the foundations of knitting. You’ll learn how to hold your needles and yarn, cast on and cast off, and work a simple knit stitch using chunky needles. Depending on how you progress, there may also be an opportunity to try purl, moss or rib stitches.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the confidence and know-how to continue knitting at home and begin your own projects, such as hats or scarves.
All materials are provided, so there’s nothing you need to bring along. You’ll also receive helpful handouts to use during the session and take home with you.
Whether you’re keen to try something new or want to build on existing needlecraft skills, this is a welcoming and supportive space to learn, make and enjoy the process.
