Print Exhibition

A public print exhibition celebrating work made by students and tutors at HUT on the Green

This winter, we’re delighted to be sharing a public print exhibition that celebrates the growing printmaking community at HUT on the Green, in collaboration with Charlotte Johnston and Hawthorn Road Gallery Space.

Over the past year, our press at the HUT has been busy. From first-time lino cutters to more experienced printmakers, hundreds of prints have been pulled through the studio as part of our courses, clubs and workshops. This exhibition is an opportunity to pause, take stock, and bring some of that work out into the world.

The show brings together prints made by both students and tutors, showcasing a wide range of techniques, styles and approaches. Some works are carefully planned and refined; others are more experimental and playful. Together, they reflect what we value at the HUT: learning by doing, sharing skills, and creating space for people to explore ideas through making.

Collaborating with Charlotte Johnston and Hawthorn Road Gallery Space feels like a natural extension of this ethos. The gallery provides a thoughtful and welcoming setting in which to present the work, and the collaboration allows these prints — many of which were made as part of a learning process — to be seen, celebrated and taken seriously as finished pieces.

We’re especially pleased that this exhibition highlights not just outcomes, but process. Each print tells a story of time spent learning a technique, working through an idea, and gaining confidence along the way. It’s a reminder that making work in a shared studio environment can be both supportive and transformative.
